Bring all stakeholders on board the Diaspora Program, ZDA urged

• The Diaspora as a big economic Block that brings Money back.
• Mr. Mumba further urges ZDA to also invest in diaspora investment of remittances.
• It is no doubt that people in diaspora would like to give back to Zambia.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia has urged Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) to bring on board participation of all stakeholders on investment opportunities to Zambians in the diaspora for the Program to succeed.
Speaking during a virtual meeting, Ibrahim Mumba explained that countries such as Bangladeshi and Pakistan have put much emphasis on the Diaspora as a big economic Block that brings Money back to their nations, with remittance estimated at $54 million dollars a month for Saudi Arabia alone.
“This program to succeed, I feel ZDA should bring on board all stakeholders, we don’t want to make this program an academic exercise we want to see that it succeeds,” he said.
“I know the government is keen to see that this program succeed, you see by it coming up with the Diaspora policy,” said the Ambassador.

Mr. Mumba further urged ZDA to also invest in Diaspora investment of remittances so that it can help in boosting Zambia’s economy, stressing the need to put up a sustainable program in the Diaspora policy that will be able to keep the investment flowing.
“The remittances will be in from of supporting the families, in form of saving for themselves and this is very important, we need to be encourage that.” He stressed.
The Ambassador said, “We don’t want to do a project that has a got time limit, the Diaspora program is a long term program.”
Mr. Mumba further urges people in the Diaspora to take advantage of the ZDA initiative saying “let us ensure that if there are any bottlenecks, the mission is ready to assist you, please we are here to help you.”
“Zambia should not be where it is right now if we were united and working together,” he added.
He says most of the times some stakeholders have been left behind and they take offence saying ‘Okay Twalamona Efyo Balachita’ (okay we will see what they will do: Translated from Bemba language) the attitude he says should not be there however urging everyone to take responsibility of the improvement of “our country.”
The Ambassador further noted it is no doubt that the people in diaspora would like to give back to Zambia however they have been facing challenges to invest back home stating that this must be eased up through the Agency initiative.
