Luanshya Council procures equipment worth K4 million

• The three-earth moving equipment will make the council to efficiently deliver services to residents.
• Grader has been procured at a cost of 2,563,000, multi-purpose tractor at K499, 858.24 and front-end loader K1, 759,000-00.
• Residents should expect the council to double its efforts in creating a cleaner and healthier environment

Luanshya Municipal Council has purchased three earth moving machines at a cost of over K4 million to enhance service delivery.
Speaking during the launch of the equipment, Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda said he has no doubt that the purchase of the three-earth moving machines will make the council to efficiently and effectively deliver services to residents in the area.
Mr. Chanda stated that the equipment will help the municipality in the opening up of new areas for residential property development, agriculture, aquaculture and industrial activities.
He further said residents should expect the council to double its efforts in creating a cleaner and healthier environment with the newly acquired machines.
Mr. Chanda thanked the residents for their massive contribution to the council through the paying of rates and user fees for various services being offered by the local authority.
“The local authority has purchased a grader at a cost of 2,563,000 -00, a multi-purpose tractor at K499.858.24 and a front-end loader at K1, 759,000-00 all valued at K4, 821,859.24,” Mr. Chanda disclosed.
He also expressed gratitude to his fellow councilors, management and other stakeholders for putting the local generated funds to good use in more transparent and accountable manner in the quest to provide a service that is effectively and efficiently.
Speaking earlier, Luanshya Deputy Mayor Engineer Golden Mulenga said Mr. Chanda’s Leadership has made the council capable of collecting revenue and implement capital projects in the district.
Engineer Mulenga assured the municipality’s continued support in the delivery of services to the local people and congratulated the mayor, his fellow Councilors and the management team for such great work.
“Using council funds, we have done a lot without relying on government funds. This is what we started and we have continued to do as a local leadership here in Luanshya,” Engineer Mulenga said.
