Broaden the country’s industrial base by promoting value addition.

The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry notes the is need to broaden the country’s industrial base by promoting value addition to available primary resources in order to develop sustainable agro-based industries and expand the portfolio of value-added products.
Ministry Permanent Secretary Mr. Mushuma Mulenga tells Money in a statement that in order to spur growth of these sectors, there is need for affordable financing solutions to the players at the various levels of the value chains.
Mr. Mulenga was speaking during a workshop organized by the Saudi Fund for Development to sensitize both local foreign business community on the Saudi Export Program.
He adds that the workshop will put the country in a position to produce value added goods that can be exported to countries such as Saudi Arabia and other gulf states that are yearning for quality value added products.
Mr. Mulenga explains that the government has embarked on trade expansion in support of Zambia’s Industrialization Agenda and promotion of sustainable growth and development.
He stated that this is evidenced by the development of a stand-alone National Trade Policy and the National Industrial Policy, with the underlying focus to support Zambia’s Industrialization Agenda.
