Business premises urged not to relax on public health guidelines

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has urged residents and business premises not to relax on public health guidelines on the spread of Coronavirus.
Council Public Relations Manager George Sichimba further advised both business owners and clients that the fight against the spread of Coronavirus is still on and that the Statutory Instrument (SI) 21 and 22 are still in force.
Mr. Sichimba disclosed that a combined team of Public health Inspectors, Council Police and Zambia Police conducted an operation over the weekend to monitor compliance with public health guidelines.
He said the operation which was conducted between 22:00 hours and mid night in selected places in the city, revealed that some business premises and clients are relaxing on public health guidelines.
Mr. Sichimba stressed the need for residents to continue observing public health guidelines for their safety and that of others, stating that the council will continue to monitor the situation and offering health education to those found relaxing on the measures put in place.
“It should be noted that issues of health are best fought at individual level before taking the fight to other levels of society. The local authority is therefore appealing to all residents to take personal responsibility seriously as opposed to playing to the gallery.”
“Residents should also ignore contrary messages about Coronavirus disease and measures that have been put in place government,” he said.
