BuyZed backs Govt over improved packaging of products

The NGO promoting the proliferation of Zambian products, BuyZed Campaign, has observed the need to help local Entrepreneurs with improved packaging standards.

BuyZed Campaign Founder Evans Ngoma tells Money FM News that it is important that local Entrepreneurs improve packaging standards for them to have their goods compete on the international market.

Mr. Ngoma acknowledges that if products are not properly packaged, it would be difficult for them to hit the international market.

He is specifically calling on stakeholders to ensure that food agri processing entrepreneurs are helped on best packaging methods so that their products will be appreciated on the international market.

He feels that this is one of the major challenges the Entrepreneurs face in their business activities.

“It is encouraging that government has called on the packaging manufacturers to invest and create jobs in the growing manufacturing sector in the country. As BuyZed campaign we toured some stands and one area of interest was the Cotton Association of Zambia stand, the IDC and the Zambia revenue authority stands.

Amidst abundant high quality cotton production by our farmers it appears very little value addition is done to it,” he said.

Mr. Ngoma is pleased that the Industrial Development Corporation means well when it comes to uplifting the social – economic status of the people and he is confident soon they will revamp the Mulungushi textile industry.

“ZRA is also exhibiting to make sure traders have full knowledge of their tax obligations,” Mr. Ngoma adds.

The BuyZed Campaign Founder notes that industrialization is key to a country’s socio-economic growth of the country.
