A Chinese firm Nanchang White Horse Aviation Technology has expressed interest to invest millions of dollars in aviation technology in Kabwe following the successful hosting of the Central Province Investment Forum and Expo last year.
The Central Provincial Administration Expo Secretariat says the Chinese firm intends to set up a manufacturing plant for drones and related gadgets and devices subject to approval by relevant authorities in the country.
Nanchang White Horse Aviation Technology Coordinator Dominic Mofu says in a letter to Central Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Chomba that the investment decision has been necessitated by the friendly environment in the Province.
“We believe locating our business in Kabwe will strategically position us to access the large markets with Zambian Government line ministries,” Mr Mofu explained.
“In addition, it would give us access to all the eight Zambian neighboring countries; thus, we are requesting for land where to establish the manufacturing plant.”
Mr Mofu says the Chinese firm believes that the investment will go a long way in creating employment for Zambians.
The plant will also help other countries in the region in areas of aviation industry which will ultimately offer cheaper route to private aerial company services.
And Mr Chomba has invited officials from Nanchang City of China to Kabwe this month to discuss the details about their investment plans.
He said the Provincial Administration was ready to facilitate the acquisition of the land but would first be interested to know the exact amount required for the project.
“We wish to invite you and your team to Zambia for discussions with the Central Province Investment Team, the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority, the Zambia Development Agency, the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry as well as the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” he said.
