The Ministry of Youth Sports and Child Development says it will this year empower youths in the country in various skills out of the K28 million funds that it has benefited from the 2019 budget.
Ministry Public Relations Manager Kennedy Mukupa has told Money FM News in an interview that the ministry intends to empower about 80 youths’ groups in Information Communication Technology ICT this year.
Mr Mukupa says the ministry has so far empowered 60 youth groups in ICT’s throughout the country.
Mr Mukupa says the ministry has also embarked on a youth agriculture program aimed at empowering youths that want to venture into agriculture with free land.
He says the ministry has realized that agriculture is a business and a way to go for the country, hence the more reason the youths venturing into agriculture are given start up kits.
He says the ministry has so far empowered youths with land in Mufumbwe district in North Western province, Mporokoso district in Northern Province.
Mr Mukupa says the ministry is also empowering graduates from skill training centers with equipment in an effort to empower them.
“Our intention is that when the students graduate from the skills training institutes, they should be able to empower themselves as opposed to looking for employment,” he said.
