Consumers tipped

The Zambia Compulsory Standard Agency (ZCSA) has advised manufacturers and importers to ensure that their products are labeled in official language, English.
Agency Public Relations Officer Lee Haamunji is further advising consumers in the country to give product labeling the attention and seriousness it deserves.
Speaking when he featured on Money FM Business Radio’s Your Consumer Rights Programme that airs at 9hrs every Wednesday, Mr. Haamunji says consumers should ensure that they read all product details before buying any product.
Mr. Haamunji said it is law that the products that are found on the local market are labeled in Zambia’s official language which is English.
“All products found on the market should conform with the set standards. Manufacturers and importers of products should not put the health of the consumers at risk by not labeling their products in English,” he said.
He said the consumers should be protected and hence the need to ensure that the products are properly labeled.
Mr. Haamunji has also advised consumers to pay particular interest to the expiry date of the product before they buy it.
