Zambia’s envoy to Portugal lures Portuguese investors

Zambia’s Ambassador to Portugal Dr. Christine Kaseba-Sata has reaffirmed the country’s commitment in strengthening bilateral and economic relations that exist between the two countries.
Dr. Kaseba-Sata says her desire is to enhance and strengthen the political and economic cooperation between Zambia and Portugal for mutual benefits.
And Dr. Kaseba-Sata has requested for scholarships from the Portuguese Government to enable young Zambians study at reputable institutions in renewable energy and forestry.
She says this will help the country implement interventions against climate change and contribute to the sustainable Development Goals.
“Zambia would like to tap from your advanced expertise in the wind energy development so that we could continue with our diversification efforts for energy mix and most especially continue to pursue our green energy development ambitions and contribute to the fight against climate change,” Dr. Kaseba-Sata said.
Dr. Kaseba-Sata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia, residing in France, said this when she presented her letters of credence to the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo De Sousa in the capital city of Lisbon and thus assuring the host that Zambia, stood ready to develop the long-standing relationship and cooperation with the European Country.
Dr. Kaseba-Sata was among two other Ambassadors who presented credentials to the Portuguese President on this day.
And President Rebelo De Sousa stressed the need for a Technical Cooperation Framework to enhance relations between the two Countries.
President Rebelo De Sousa noted also that he would be delighted to witness new developments of the two countries within both, the bilateral and multilateral framework, particularly in facilitating high-level visits between the two countries and the business communities.
The Portuguese President reminisced the last visit he made to Zambia before he assumed office and said he would visit soon and expressed his belief that the visit would open up new developmental retro for bilateral ties.
“I am happy to report that we have a few Portuguese companies operating in Zambia in the fields of agriculture, services and manufacturing contributing to Zambia’s wealth and job creation agenda. In addition, the trade between the two countries has gradually improved, nevertheless, the still remain unexplored huge opportunities for enhancing the bilateral trade between the two countries,” the Zambian Envoy noted.
President Rebelo De Sousa further wished Ambassador Kaseba-Sata well in her endeavours and that she fulfilled her assigned tasks and regularly visited and worked in Portugal.
