The Church in Mufulira district Copperbelt province charges that the poverty that Zambia has been in for years cannot be broken if the country continues to beg from others.
Reverend Innocent Kalenga of Revival Gospel Harvest Church in Ndeke Township says there is need for Zambia to stop relying on donor funds and start addressing its own issues.
The Clergy man encouraged attendees of the National Day of Prayer at the Shinde Stadium in the district to make contributions to help Finance the 2019 National Budget as a move to help the country reduce dependence on donors.
He says Zambia’s economic recovery and independence begins with the Church.
Reverend Kalenga also says tax has not helped to address the challenges with the national budget and has questioned why Zambians cannot go an extra mile and help fund the budget.
And Mufulira district Pastor’s Fellowship Chairperson Reverend Evaristo Chembe has disclosed that a total of K2,168 was raised from the contributions.
He says the funds have been handed over to the office of the district commissioner who has been directed to hand it over to the Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe.
