The Southern Africa Cross Boarder Traders Association has called on the Zambia Revenue Authority to smoothly implement the Customs and Border Management Act in order for Zambia to increase trade with other countries.
The Zambia Revenue Authority Acting Commissioner General Moses Shuko is quoted in the media pledging to continue championing interventions and measures that will help ease the flow of goods, people and transport across borders.
But Association Zambia Chapter General Secretary Jacob Makambwe tells Money FM News that if this act is fully implemented, Zambia will be able to increase trade with other countries.
Mr. Makambwe cites the closing of Chirundu Border at 18hrs leaving the cross border trades to wait in the outside control zone saying this is demotivating to cross border traders.
He says this also poses as a security risk to the cross border traders.
