CSPR wants MFEZs set up in all provinces

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has observed the need to set up Multi Facility Economic Zones (MFEZ) in all the ten provinces to accelerate economic development.
The organization says this will also help the country in promoting industrialization.
CSPR Resource, Governance Programmes Coordinator Chimuka Nachibinga says this will help in creating jobs and subsequently reduce the high poverty levels.
Mr. Nachibinga said this when he featured on Money FM Business Radio’s Policy, Power and Money Programme that airs every Mondays and Fridays at 9hrs.
Mr. Nachibinga said if possible, the government should consider setting up MFEZs in all the districts as this is key to economic development.
“If we are to fight poverty in Zambia, we should start targeting the grassroots, right in the districts. If it’s possible, can we have these MFEZs set up in the ten province but it would be good to have them in the districts,” he said.
Mr. Nachibinga also said Zambia needs to accelerate its economic diversification agenda and explore other key sectors of the economy.
He further advised local people to take part in entrepreneurship as this is key to economic growth and job creation.
