A local Construction Company has hailed the encouragement by President Edgar Lungu that local contractors should work hard and meet their contractual obligations.
President Lungu on Friday when opening parliament observed the need to enhance patriotism amongst the local contractors.
The Head of State said Government is, therefore, providing training to local contractors to enable them deliver high quality infrastructure works.
In 2018, 1, 920 contractors were trained.
Citizens Poach Limited Chief Executive Officer Moses Lungu tells Money FM News that it is gratifying that the government is working hard in ensuring that local contractors benefit from all the contracts across the country.
Mr. Lungu says there are a number of initiatives aimed at ensuring that local contractors benefit from the contracts such as the 20 percent sub contract policy.
Mr. Lungu also said through the trainings, the local contractors are able to perform accordingly.
“You see, we cannot blame the government for everything, the government is doing enough to support us and the onus is on ourselves to ensure that we deliver quality works on time. This way we will be winning the full confidence of the people as well as the government and we can get more contracts,” he said.
He observed that the construction sector has potential to grow the economy as well as create the jobs for the local people.
