Development Activist salutes CDF release

• The move is timely.
• It’s almost the first time that Constituencies are receiving the funds in full.
• Constituency Development Committees must ensure total transparency and proper accountability.

A Development Activist says the release of 2021 lamp sum of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to all the 156 Constituencies is an indication of government’s resolve to roll out development to all parts of the country.
Speaking to Money FM News, Wesley Miyanda noted that this will enable Constituency Development Administration to plan properly on the utilization of the funds to undertake developmental projects.
Mr. Miyanda said the funds should go towards School and Health infrastructure, road networks as well as water reticulation programs especially in rural areas.
“This is almost the first time that Constituencies are receiving these funds in full, which should enable Constituency Development Administration to plan properly on the utilization of the funds to undertake developmental projects, especially those that remained incomplete in the previous PF government,” Mr. Miyanda said.
He urged all Constituency Development Committees to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of the money in order to avoid misuse and misappropriation.
“My earnest appeal goes to all Constituency Development Committees to ensure there is total transparency and proper accountability in the use of the funds to avert misuse and misappropriation of the same.”
“Members of Parliament, area Councilors, Traditional leadership and communities at large should be seen working hand in hand to foster meaningful development in the Constituencies with proper monitoring of the use of funds,” he added.
Mr. Miyanda further advised government to continue releasing the CDF in time and in full amounts so as to help constituencies plan properly on how the money should be applied to the identified and specific needs.
Government has disbursed Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to all the 156 constituencies in the country, with a call for prudent utilization of the funds, transparency, accountability and equity.
