Don’t be over expectant on IMF Visit to Zambia-Chibamba.

An Economists has advised Zambians not be over expectant of the current International Monetary Fund team visit to Zambia.
Chibamba Kanyama tells Money FM News in an interview that he has observed speculation from some social media users that the International Monetary Fund team has brought money to Zambia.
“The visit has nothing do with article four that allows them to give professional advise about a number of issues affecting the country” Mr Kanyama said.
Mr Kanyama said Zambians need to know that the IMF team has come to collect data about the financial standing of the country and they do this every year.
He said the visit will help them in the assessment of Zambia and in the placement of Zambia in their global economy.
“This visit by the IMF is just a fact finding mission, it will help the team in the assessment of Zambia and the placing of Zambia in the globe economy” He said.
Mr Kanyama that adds that in case the team embarks on article four visit next year the information that is being collected will be used to make certain projections and expectations as it comes back into the country.
The IMF team is in the country to exchange information on the policies that the Government is undertaking in dealing with fiscal challenges, the public debt, and other macro-economic policy issues aimed at stabilization and growth of the economy.
