EAZ creates citizens entrepreneur development programme

The Economic Association of Zambia (EAZ) says it has mobilized both domestic and international stakeholders to create the citizens entrepreneur development programme aimed at enhancing Wealth Creation through promotion of Entrepreneurship.
Speaking during a media conference, Association President Lubinda Habazoka said in an effort to mitigate the problem of unemployment and also to enhance wealth creation in Zambia, the organization has been engaging various stakeholders including government over the need to establish a programme aimed at creating new businesses at grassroots level who will in turn create jobs.
Dr Lubinda said the initiative was born out of consultations with various government departments at the highest level as consultations were also made with the private sector and the response has been overwhelming.
“In order to mitigate the problem of unemployment and also to enhance wealth creation in Zambia, the association has been engaging various stakeholders including government in an effort of establishing a programme aimed at creating new businesses at grassroots level who will in turn create jobs,” Mr Lubinda said.
“As an Association, we would like to announce that we have mobilized both domestic and international stakeholders to create the “citizens entrepreneur development programme” aimed at enhancing Wealth Creation through promotion of Entrepreneurship”.
He explains that the initiative will bring together the public and private sector in supporting business creation through the provision of funds, business skills, capacity building, and input support on commercial terms and provision of market for goods produced.
“This initiative was born out of consultations with various government departments at the highest level. Consultations were also made with the private sector and the response is very overwhelming,” he said.

He further said the Programme is designed especially for women and youth groups and takes advantage of the President’s directive to enhance local participation in the retail sector.

He has since called on stakeholders including various founders to come on board and realize the grandiose project, as it will be private sector led.
