The Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry says provincial expos are providing a platform for the ministry to provide guidance to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on the suitable kind of business in a given province.
Ministry Public Relations Officer Godfridah Chanda tells Money FM News that the ministry is helping SMEs with information on how they can thrive in their businesses.
Ms. Chanda said her ministry operates one stop shops with regulatory bodies providing a chance for the SMEs to interact with the ministry and the regulatory bodies to express any complaints they may have pertaining to businesses and clarify some of the issues that they do not understand.
She says this is because they have realized that some SMEs cannot travel to Lusaka for most of the services as they incur a lot of transport costs making the cost of doing business for them very high.
The ministry public relations officer says their presence in the expos is also to facilitate for businesses to thrive especially the private sector as they are the engine of the Economy.
Ms. Chanda has also reiterated that the Provincial Expos also provide opportunities for would be investors to see the available investment opportunities in Zambia and assess the country’s business environment.
