FAZ commits to resuming the Super League as scheduled

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has resolved that all the matches scheduled to launch the resumption of the league will take place as scheduled this afternoon.
According to a statement made available to Money Sports News, the Association says this follows a consultative meeting with all the stakeholders which was attended by the Director of Sports John Zulu, National Sports of Council of Zambia (NSCZ) acting General Secretary Raphael Mulenga, FAZ vice president Rix Mweemba and General Secretary Adrian Kashala.
FAZ has noted that all members have been fully briefed through consultative meetings preceding the resumption of the league about the measures to be taken.
Kashala said all the teams have been reminded to adhere to the measures provided by the Ministry of Health.
“FAZ remains committed to not only ensuring that the teams are adhering to the guidelines including testing for covid-19. At the stadia, everyone will be subjected to the routine covid-19 checks with health authorities also incorporated in the management of the games,” Kashala says.
“A lot of work has gone into preparations for these games and we are also using them as a gauge to see how well we will manage the remainder of the fixtures.”
Director of Sports John Zulu said government was watching keenly the events in Ndola and hoped that the sports authorities will deliver on Republican President Edgar Lungu’s call to it’s the football family to resume the league subject to observing guidelines by the ministry of health.

Meanwhile, the Association has said that the matter involving Forest Rangers was tabled with the authorities referring the matter to the Ministry of Health.
Ndola based Super League side Forest Rangers has however assured the Football Association of Zambia that they will fulfill this afternoon’s fixture.
FAZ has pledged to continue working with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sports in ensuring that they adhere to all the set guidelines.
Forest Rangers will this afternoon take on Zanaco Football Club at 15:00Hrs at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a rescheduled Week 20 encounter.
