Zesco United Supporters Club pledge to pay for empty seats

ZESCO United Football Club Supporters Club has pledged to continue paying for their seats for team’s remaining home fixtures.
ZESCO United Supporters Club National Treasurer, Perry Shikamo says the outbreak of COVID-19 will have huge financial implications on the club especially that the team will not generate any income from gate-takings.
Shikamo revealed that the supporter of the club felt obliged to help the team stay afloat during the pandemic as games will be played behind closed doors and have since decided to buy off some seats during the team’s home fixtures.
“These are difficulties times for any football club. As supporters of this great football club, we have an obligation to help the team stay afloat in these trying moments. We have since decided to buy off some seats during the team’s home matches,” Shikamo said.
He has since appealed to the club’s supporters countrywide to show great solidarity to the club by paying for a seat in the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
“We know that our supporters will not be allowed to be in the stadium during the remaining games. This is the more reason we have decided to come up with this initiative so that we can at least contribute something to the team during these hard times. I am urging our supporters to show solidarity to our club in these difficult times.”
ZESCO United supporters countrywide will be required to deposit their contributions to the Fan Club’s account and use various mobile money platforms when the team is playing its home games at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) directed that all the remaining FAZ Super League fixtures be played behind closed doors when the league resumes this weekend.

On Saturday, Kitwe United will play Lusaka based Police College in a National Division One encounter which will kickoff at 13:00Hrs before log leaders Forest Rangers take on Zanaco Football Club at 15:00Hrs at the Levy Mwanawasa Saturday in the second match in a doubleheader.

Zesco United will be in action on Sunday against Kansanshi Dynamos in a lunchtime kickoff while Buildcon Football Club have a date with Power Dynamos at 15:00Hrs.
