Fish feed prices stable

• Stability of Fish Feed prices is due to low prices of raw materials used in the manufacturing of the commodity.
• For three months ,there has been stability of prices
• Due to this there has been an increase in the production of Fish feed among Aquaculture Farmers.

Zambian Aquaculture Cooperative Society Limited (ZACOSO) has attributed the stability of Fish Feed prices the country has seen in the past three months to low prices of raw materials used in the manufacturing of the commodity.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Organisation Secretary General Ferznarnd Simfukwe said from October 2021 to January 2022 the sector has not seen any increase in the prices of fish feed.

Mr. Simfukwe has explained that due to this there has been an increase in the production of Fish feed among Aquaculture Farmers.

He has however stated that the situation may change with the anticipation increase of power tariffs.
Mr. Simfukwe further explained that the prices may increase after March and April as these are months when soya bean, the main crop used for manufacturing feed will be harvested.

“The prices of feed is dependent on the prices of the raw material hence we can only wait for the crop to be harvested to determine how much the price of feed will be selling at,” he stated.

“At the beginning of 2021,prices of fish feed started increasing because the prices of the raw material which is used to Manufacture the commodity increased, but from October 2021 to January 2022 the prices remained stable, “he said.

Prices of Fish Feed have been trading between k650 and k750 depending on the brand.
