FISP awaits K2 billion implementation funds

The Ministry of Agriculture says it is waiting for the K2 billion from the Ministry of Finance meant to finance the Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP) for the 2018/19 farming season.

Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo tells Money FM News in an exclusive interview that he is in talks with his Finance counterpart Margaret Mwanakatwe so that the ministry can start the distribution of farming inputs.

Mr. Katambo says his ministry has set early September as a target to start making available farming inputs to the farmers across the country.

He is confident that the government will ensure that the inputs reach the farmers on time.

Mr. Katambo is also calming down farmers not to panic as the government is on course with the distribution programme.
