Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged students, short-stay travellers and Zambians with permanent residence abroad to contact Zambia’s missions for registration purposes and access any assistance that they may require in wake of the COVID-19.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, Foreign Affairs Minister Joe Malanji said the ministry through the missions abroad has intensified registration for Zambians in order to monitor their welfare.
Mr Malanji further disclosed that the ministry is working to find a solution towards the matter regarding Zambians who have been caught up in various travel restriction measures implemented in different countries in the work of the pandemic.
“The Ministry is aware of Zambians who have been caught up in various travel restriction measures implemented in different countries in the wake of the pandemic.” The Minister said.
He has since advised Zambians on the short term in various parts of the world to contact the immigration authorities in host countries and missions should they have issues with their Visa’s.
“And to the would-be travellers I would like to advise them to make sure that when they are in countries outside, they have to leave within the confinement of the law.” He said.
Mr Malanji added that those whose Visa cards have expired will not be allowed to check-in at any hotel or apartment and any other services one would require in a foreign country.
The Minister disclosed that all Zambians in China have lived within the confinement of the law and there has not been any Zambian family that has been found wanting or tested positive of the Corona Virus.
