Government dismisses purported teacher recruitment exercise

• The exercise of teacher recruitment has not yet commenced.
• All those who are purporting to be recruiting and transferring teachers are fraudsters.
• The recruitment of teachers will be done in due course

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education says the teacher recruitment exercise has not yet commenced, contrary to false reports about the employment program.
In a statement, Noriana Muneku said it has come to the Ministry’s attention that there are some unscrupulous people who are purporting to be Ministry of Education officials and are going round with the view of trying to recruit teachers and demanding payments from the victims.
Mrs. Muneku stated that at no point has the Ministry requested for payment whenever it is recruiting or transferring teachers.
“ All those who are purporting to be recruiting and transferring teachers, and at the same time demanding for such payments are fraudsters and should be reported to the nearest police station,” Mrs. Muneku said.
Mrs. Muneku added that the recruitment of teachers will be done in due course and information regarding the program will be disseminated officially using electronic and print media.
“As such, all communications on social media platforms on teacher recruitment should be treated as false and unofficial,” she added.
