Government to promote economic empowerment for women and girls targeted against HIV prevalence

The Ministry of Finance has noted the need for efforts aimed at reducing the prevalence of HIV among women and girls to include the improvement of their economic empowerment.
Minister in charge Margaret Mwanakatwe says there is need to implement HIV preventive Measures across all sectors of the country in order to reduce its prevalence in the population.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe has assured of government’s commitment to increasing resources to reducing the HIV prevalence with support from corporation partners.
She says this in a speech read on her behalf by the National HIV Prevention Coalition Vice Chairperson in the ministries of Health and Finance Bishop Paul Mususu at a breakfast meeting in Lusaka today.
Speaking at the same event, National Prevention Coalition Director General Dr. Victor Mukonka has emphasized the need to increase funding towards prevention of HIV.
Dr Mukonka says this following the observation that there are more efforts and resources that have been channeled to HIV cure as compare to prevention.
