• Engineering Institution of Zambia has partnered with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development has urged Engineering professionals in the country to use their skills and play a pivotal role to support rebuilding of the economy.
Speaking during the launch of the 8th African Engineering Week, which runs from 7th to 11th November 2022, Charles Milupi has further advised engineering professionals to exhibit the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in their work and constantly improve and innovate ideas to provide solutions to societal problems.
Engineer Milupi pledged government’s continued supporting to Engineers as a respected and reliable source of technical advice and guidance on strategies and policies that use engineering and technology for the benefit of the country’s development.
“As we celebrate the African Engineering Week, I would like to implore engineering professionals to exhibit the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in their work and constantly improve and innovate ideas to provide solution’s to societal problems. I urge Engineering professionals to use their skills and play a pivotal role to support rebuilding of the economy, as well as shaping the future of the society we live in,” Engineer Milupi stated.
Meanwhile, Engineer Milupi disclosed that the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) has partnered with the Engineering Council of South Africa in its mission to subscribe to the International Engineering Alliance.
He said the move will enable Engineering Professionals in the country to practice across the globe and improve the standard of engineering education in Zambia and ultimately better results with regards to engineering projects.
“I am therefore elated to note the importance that the Engineering Institution of Zambia has placed on continuous professional development programs for its members. Continuous education is no longer a luxury for those in the engineering profession but a necessity to constantly adapt to new technological changes in the environment,” he said.
He added that the programs are critical for engineering professionals to evolve and meet the challenges of the future and be equal to any task that comes.
The 8th African Engineering Week is being commemorated under the theme; Accelerating the infrastructure development in Africa together.
