Govt allows DRC to export Mukula via Zambia

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has allowed the Democratic Republic of Congo to transport 3, 400 containers containing Mukula logs through Zambia for exports.
Minister in charge Jean Kapata says this will be done under security escort so as not to allow any manipulation.
Ms Kapata says cabinet has approved the request from DRC to export Mukula through Zambia because of the good relationship that exist between the two countries.
She says Zambia will benefit in terms of revenue through toll fees and other clearing charges.
She has told parliament that this will be done within 80 days.
Ms Kapata has also emphasized that the ban on the harvesting and exporting of Mukula logs in Zambia is still in full force and that government is not lifting it.
The minister also says the government will try to inquire from DRC at what cost they are selling their Mukula and do a comparison with the price that Zambia has been selling it under ZAFFICCO.
She has also assured the nation that no one has been allowed to harvest Mukula and export it as the security wings are keeping vigil.
