Government Officials and Catholic Bishops have agreed that the Government should refine its consultative framework and intensify its collaboration and outreach activities.
This is aimed at ensuring that the nation is kept informed about economic developments in the country in a timely manner.
The two parties, at a meeting held at Kapingila House in Kabulonga, Lusaka exchange information on development and economic affairs.
The Government was represented by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda, Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Finance Mukuli Chikuba and Ministry of Finance Spokesperson Chileshe Kandeta.
Ministry of Finance Spokesperson Chileshe Kandeta, who has confirmed the development to Money FM News, says government officials welcomed the interest demonstrated by the Bishops in understanding financial and economic affairs of the country.
Mr. Kandeta narrates that the government officials requested that through various fora, the Bishops should help to guide the citizenry on the need to access factual information from Official sources instead of patronizing hearsay and fake news platforms.
The Bishops, from various Catholic Dioceses of Zambia, were led by the President of Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops, George Lungu.
