Govt committed to open more MFEZs

The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry says government is open to explore means to transform the Industrial Park in Bwana Mkubwa constituency into a Multi Facility Economic Zone.
Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Christopher Yaluma says government has facilitated for the establishment of the Sub-Sahara Gemstone Exchange Industrial Park (SGE) in Ndola.
Mr. Yaluma says his ministry welcomes engagements with the private sector that will provide an opportunity to revive the industrial through the development of the MFEZ.
He says the establishment of the SGE in Ndola is within the framework of the Multi Facility Economic Zone.
He says the Zambian Government is aware of the role Bwana Mkubwa has played in Zambia’s industrial development.
The Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister was responding to a question in parliament from Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament Dr. Jonas Chanda who wanted to know whether the Government has any plans to transform the industrial area in Bwana Mkubwa Parliamentary Constituency into a Multi-Facility Economic Zone.
Dr. Chanda further wanted to know when the plans will be implemented.
But Mr. Yaluma says government is open to any engagements that will promote industrialization in Zambia.
