Govt encouraged to continue with financial reforms

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has encouraged the government to continue working on financial management reforms as this is key to prudent financial management.
CSPR Chairperson Partner Siabutuba tells Money FM News that this will help Zambia in safeguarding public funds.
Mr. Siabutuba says it is worrying that the Public Accounts Committee has continued to hear cases of abuse of public funds despite the country having systems in place to deal with such challenges.
He has recommended that all relevant institutions begin to aggressively follow up cases cited in the Auditor General’s reports as this will be a starting point in prudent financial management.
Mr. Siabutuba says it is important that there is high level of adherence by those entrusted with public funds.
He says there are issues highlighted in the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) that needs to be dealt with such as adherence to the reforms.
