Govt projects to raise K13 million from Tourism Levy

The Ministry of Tourism and Arts is confident that it will raise over K13 million from Tourism Levy for 2018.
The Ministry projected to collect K11 million in 2018 from the tourism levy which is aimed at raising funds for development of the sector.
Tourism and Arts Minister Charles Banda tells Money FM News that this is because, as at the end of September 2018, they managed to collect K10.1 million.
Mr. Banda says this is a clear indication that his ministry will surpass the K11 million target for last year when the figures are out.
He has attributed this to high compliance levels coming from owners of hotels and lodges who pay this levy under the Tourism Development Fund.
The minister has since commended the players for their support saying they should continue on this path even this year.
