Ministry of Tourism and Arts says no animals are being flown out of South Luangwa National Park contrary to the video that was recently circulated on some online media platform.
Ministry Public Relations Officer Sakabilo Kalembwe clarified that the video suggesting that animals are being flown out of South Luangwa National Park was not captured in Zambia.
Mr. Kalembwe said in the video, there are no animals shown being loaded in the plane and that the language being spoken is not English or any of the languages known in Zambia.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Arts would like to clarify that the video that was recently circulated on some online media platform suggesting that animals are being flown out of the South Luangwa National Park is not a correct video taken in Zambia,” Mr. Kalembwe said.
He said in the South Luangwa there are three airstrips among them Kakumbi which is an all-weather landing space currently being used by bio carbon partners.
Mr. Kalembwe added that “there have never been flights in the area and mainly the plains that are flying there are those that are flying food to local communities that have been ravaged by calamities of flooding and other circumstances.
He urged people running social media platforms to desist from the yellow journalism practices of fabricating fake news.
