Govt’s support to local contractors nodded

The Zambian Youths in the fight against corruption has praised the government for aggressively supporting local contractors through the 20 percent sub contractual policy.
Organization Executive Director Maurice Malambo has told Money FM News that the government has also shown commitment in terms of prompt payments to contractors saying this has really helped them a lot.
Mr. Malambo says the government should continue on this path as this will also help in job creation as well as growing the country’s economy.
“When we empower our local contractors we are creating jobs for the local people, we are also growing the country’s economy. I must commend Honourable Ronald Chitotela who has done an incredible work in supporting the local contractors,” he said.
“We are also commending the government for prompt payments of the funds to the contractors this has really helped the contractors to deliver the works on time.”
Mr. Malambo has also encouraged the government to ensure that they purse the economic diversification agenda holistically.
He is pleased that the government is taking frantic efforts towards exploring potential sectors such as tourism, agriculture, water transport network, agri-business among other sectors.
“The holding of the Investment Forums and Expos have also helped to explore the potential of various sectors of the economy. We can see the results in Luapula Province which first hosted the expo last year, followed by Central and lastly Northern Province. These are brilliant initiatives that are helping to grow our economy,” said Mr. Malambo.
He has also noted that the country’s economy has performed fairly in the ending year 2018.
