Green Buffaloes seeded in CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers draw

Zambia Women’s Super League champions, Green Buffaloes Football Club will on Thursday know their fate in the race for a place at the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.

COSAFA will conduct the draw for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League, regional Qualifier in Johannesburg on Thursday with eight teams set to battle for a ticket to the top tier women’s football competition.

The competition will be staged in Durban, South Africa from August 30 to September 8.

South African side Mamelodi Sundowns were the inaugural winners as they defeated Black Rhinos Queens in the final and then went on to win the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League that was held in Egypt.

Green Buffaloes were the second winners in 2022, edging Sundowns on penalties in the final as both teams qualified for the continental finals. They will be in the field again this year as the top two seeds, heading up Groups, A and B.

Other teams include Double Action Ladies from Botswana, Olympic De Moroni of Comoros, Young Buffaloes of Eswatini, Lesotho Defence Force, Malawi’s Ntopwa FC and Costa Do Sol of Mozambique.
