Green economy sector to place Zambia on unique selling point

• Promotion of the green economy sector has been trending at the international front.
• International community will appreciate efforts to promote the sector.
• This will place the country’s tourism activities on a unique selling point.

Livingstone Tourism Association (LTA) says promotion of the green economy sector has been trending at the international front and Zambia has strategically introduced the new ministry on a timely note.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association Chairperson Hillary Kashempa explained that the direct benefit that will come with the introduction of the green economy is that the international community will appreciate efforts made by the country’s governance administration to promote the sector.
Mr. Kashempa added that this will also place the country’s tourism activities on a unique selling point which will attract a good number of people from the local and international community.
“We do appreciate the fact that obviously the green economy is quite strategic and I would say it is timely that we are moving towards what is expected of us on the international scene. Looking at the green economy right now, this is what is being promoted on the international front, so what we have done obviously as a country, which is a good thing is that we have strategically positioned ourselves,” Mr. Kashempa said.
He further stressed the need for the tourism industry and green economy sector to work together as tourism directly touches on the available natural resources in the country, resulting in enhanced marketing of various products to the locals.
“The direct benefit that will also come from the green economy initiative is that the international community will specifically appreciate our efforts towards the green economy initiative and in its own way will become more like a unique selling point for the country and that on its own will be able to attract some numbers of investments and tourism activities from the international stage,” he added.
