The Ministry of Tourism and Arts says the use of Information Communication Technologies ICT has contributed to the tourism industry being the world’s fastest growing industry.
Tourism and arts Minister Dr. Charles Banda says ICTS have provided an opportunity for the sustainable development of the tourism industry in general.
He says the sector has embraced e-governance in the management of the industry.
The minister says there is need for human resource that can adapt to any changes that come along in the name of the improvement in the provision of value for money service. I am sure you will be that kind of a worker.
Dr Banda says this implies increasing reliance of the tourism industry and tourists on emerging forms of I.C.Ts that allow for massive amounts of data to be transformed into value propositions.
He was speaking during the graduation ceremony of 106 students at Zambia Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies (ZITHS) at Fairview Hotel on Friday.
And ZITHS Executive Director Wilson Silungwe says the school has received another K396, 500 from the Tourism Development Fund for improving the food and beverage service training.
He says this money is meant to procure restaurant items and that the items have already been paid for and the institution is awaiting their delivery.
This is according to a statement issued by tourism and arts public relations officer Sakabilo Kalembwe.
