The Zambian High Commission in India has realised total of eight billion US dollars ($8 000 000 000) worth of investments from India so far.
First Secretary Press and Tourism at the Zambian Mission in India Bangwe Naviley says in a statement that the commission realized one hundred million US Dollars ($100,000 000) worth of investments in the first half of 2019.
Meanwhile the Zambian High Commission in India has called on Kiran Gems Private Limited, the world’s largest diamond manufacturers, to consider investing in geological exploration of diamonds in Zambia.
High Commissioner Judith Kapijimpanga says Zambia has no ready mines for diamonds but that the Ministry of Mines has identified possible spots which call for detailed exploration with the hope of discovering diamonds.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga says exploration works are expensive but India has effective technology which can help Zambia discover more of its fortune.
She says Zambia wants to take advantage of all high-income earning gems in order to diversify from copper to grow the economy.
And Kiran Gems Private Limited Chairman Valla-bh-bh-ai Patel says his company will table Zambia’s proposal as a board.
Meanwhile Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (CJEPC India) Gujarat State Regional Chairman Dinesh Navadiya says he is willing to take two geologists to work with Zambian mining geologists for exploration purposes in August this year.
