Tourism and Arts Minister Charles Banda is hopeful the project proposal by Seth James Group to invest in the Kasaba Bay in Northern Province will be translated into an actuality.
Speaking at his office today when Mayowa Seth, Chairperson of the Nigerian Group of Companies led a delegation to make a presentation for the proposed Kasaba Bay Resort, the Minister said the company has shown seriousness.
He says his Ministry treats the proposal earnestly because the firm has shown its commitment by opening up an office in Lusaka.
He has urged the would-be investors to live up to their promises, as the Zambia will welcome their investment.
And Mr. Mayowa says the project is designed to be located on approximately 500 hectares of land and was born out of the growing need to develop the tourism industry in the Northern Province of the country.]
The opportunity will be harnessed to bring recreational tourist sites to the Nsumbu District.
He says the project will be developed in two phases – a 3 Star and Budget Hotel will be built first as well as an amusement park.
Mr. Mayowa said second phase would consist of a 5 star hotel, helipad/air strip, an 18-hole golf course and a 5,000-person capacity conference hall.
The Nigerian businessman said the Resort would consist of a top-notch 5 star hotel, an African style/themed 3 star hotel and budget lodging that reflects the architecture of the tropics.
It is anticipated that once complete, the KBR when completed will create the equivalent of more than 500 full-time jobs.
During construction, it will create approximately 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
