The Kwacha today opened intra-day trading on a sluggish note selling at eleven kwacha fifty eight ngwee and selling at eleven kwacha eighty ngwee.
The Kwacha came under further pressure against the U.S dollar on Friday following a wane in supply from sellers.
The local unit touched an intra-day low of eleven kwacha seventy five ngwee and selling at eleven kwacha eighty ngwee from the day’s opening levels of eleven kwacha forty five ngwee and selling at eleven kwacha fifty ngwee.
The past week saw the Kwacha oscillate between losses and gains as it appreciated from a low of twelve kwacha seventy ngwee against a single US dollar.
In the interim, most market participants are likely to continue watching the currency pair closely and will look to make a move depending on the direction it takes.
And according to the Cavmont Bank Market Report monitored by Money FM News, total funds traded on Interbank was three hundred and seventy one million kwacha.
