Wednesday’s trading session saw the Kwacha make a comeback against the U.S dollar as it appreciated to an intra-day high of K10.270 /K10.320 from the day’s opening levels of K10.320 / K10.370.
Despite the positive movement, most corporates were on the fence as they anticipated further gains in the local unit below the $1/K10.300 mark.
Elsewhere, the South African Rand fell to a new record low of $/ZAR15.600 against the U.S dollar after the economy entered in a recession according to government officials.
The commercial banks’ aggregate current account decreased by K178.84 million to K1,469.97 million while the overnight borrowing and lending rate increased by 0.16% to 9.26%.
According to Cavmont Bank Market Report, total funds traded on Interbank was K187 million.
