A body of a baby has been discovered at Lusaka’s Chunga dump site which was wrapped in a chitenge material bundled together with garbage.
The body was discovered by some truck operators, working for a franchise contractor engaged by Lusaka City Council, who had gone to dump some waste collected from a named township.
The body was discovered yesterday around 16hrs.
This is believed to be a murder case as the baby was dumped in one of the bins ready to be disposed of at a dump site.
And LCC Public Relations Manager George Sichimba explains to Money FM News that upon dumping the waste, workers became suspicious of what could have been wrapped in a chitenge with a shape like that of baby.
Mr. Sichimba says the matter was immediately reported to Chunga Police Post and the body was later taken to UTH mortuary.
He says the police are handling the matter and all those that could have information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect should report to the nearest police station.
