Lafarge Zambia has donated waste bins to freedom area in Chilanga district, Lusaka province and says it understands the challenges of garbage collection in the area by the local government.
This is after staff from the company conducted a voluntary cleaning exercise in the area on Friday.
Chilanga Plant Manager James Kirkpatrick says cleaning exercise was aimed to promoting wellness as well as sensitize the community on the important of preserving the environment.
He adds that continuing the cleaning exercise reduces the chances of cholera in the community and also was done in line with the Presidential monthly, keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign.
The clean-up exercise involved picking up all the garbage along the drainages and cleaning up the illegal dumpsites along the TAP road.
Money FM Radio has also embarked on a Money Goes Green green campaign to complement efforts to help keep the environment green and healthy.
