Lafarge Zambia Plc has donated over K200, 000 to charities as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Speaking at the Media breakfast held at Twangale Park this morning, Lafarge Zambia Board Chairman, Muna Hantuba presented the donation to 5 charities who received K42, 000.00 each.
The recipients of the donation were Cheshire Homes Kabulonga, Cheshire Homes Chawama, Chilanga Mother of Mercy Hospice, Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital and Livingstone General Hospital.
“I am excited to demonstrate that, as Lafarge Zambia our unwavering commitment to sustainability development remains key to ensuring we create shared value to people and the communities.” Mr Hantuba said.
Mr Hantuba added that Lafarge Zambia working with the Zambia Amateur Athletic Association of Zambia (ZAAA) and some of its major sponsors, supported the 2018 Lafarge Lusaka Marathon and managed to generate over Two Hundred and Thirty Thousand Kwacha (K230, 000.00).
He further said the Marathon focuses on promoting wellness and social cohesion as well as supporting the spirit of marathon running in the country.
The event was also about creating shared value within the communities, hence the support rendered to the marathon being channelled towards supporting the Lafarge Foundation, the main vehicle through which the company addresses the needs within its communities.
And receiving the donation on behalf of other beneficiaries, Chairman for Cheshire Homes Kabulonga, Peter White, expressed gratitude at the gesture from Lafarge.
He implored other organisations to emulate Lafarge and ensure support of the needy in society.
