LCC closes five business establishments at KCC

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has closed five business establishments at Kabwata Cash & Carry (KCC) in Kabwata for breaking the law.

LCC Public Relations Manager George Sichimba has named the closed business establishments as Home Can Wait Restaurant, Mayela Night Club, Palvina Bar, Royal Splush and one unnamed makeshift phone accessory shop.

The PR Manager has explained that Home Can Wait Restaurant was found operating without a fire and food handlers certificates, and poor management of waste among others, Mayela Night Club was found operating without a health permit and no fire certificate while Palvina Bar was found operating without business permit and fire certificate.

He adds that Loyal Splush was found trading without a business permit, a fire certificate and fire extinguishers while the unnamed makeshift phone accessory shop was closed for being found with a banned alcoholic beverage commonly known as “Tujilijili” in a shop.

Mr. Sichimba has disclosed in a statement that the business establishments were closed when the Legal Services committee led by Councillor Longa Chiboboka undertook a tour of the place.

He says the committee also cautioned Uncle T Bar management for not displaying its licences further ordering Cozmo Corner management to avail the committee with construction permits relating to their structures at KCC.

Mr. Sichimba says ther business operators who have illegally extended their shops have equally been ordered to avail planning permissions to the committee as soon as possible.

The committee undertook a tour of KCC area for on the spot check following numerous complaints about alleged illegalities taking place at the area.
