Mr Sichimba says of the convicted number, 53 failed to pay the prescribed fines resulting in them serving a custodial sentence of two weeks simple imprisonment while 237 managed to pay fines.
He adds that during the same period under review, 49 people were apprehended for illegal collection and dumping of waste in undesignated places contrary to the law with Six being imprisoned after failing to pay penalties.
Mr Sichimba discloses that another 220 traders were warned for non-subscription to any solid waste management system.
He says 60 traders were also penalised for trading in insanitary conditions contrary to the Public Health Act.
He has since warned the vendors of intensified anti vending operations and inspection of public places adding that those found wanting would be made to account for their actions.
The anti vending activities have been boosted by the recruitment of more council police officers and the procurement of Seven light trucks dedicated to same activities.
The local authority is determined to push back vendors who have come back into CBD and Kamwala trading areas.
