A Small and Medium Entrepreneur in the construction sector has called on the government to restructure the taxation system in the construction sector to allow local SMEs to excel in their business.
DMK Construction Director David Kapoma tells Money FM News that local SMEs, especially those that are just starting, fully needs the support of the government for them to make it in business.
Mr. Kapoma says the government to ought to realize that this is one of the engines of economic growth as well as job creation.
“If you are just starting in business you need to be focused given the current tax system in the construction sector. And so, I believe that the government can help to grow the sector by creating a conducive environment that will motivate other young entrepreneurs to invest in the sector,” he said.
He says with the recently introduced minimum wage, it has negatively impacted business as the cost of doing business has gone up.
Mr. Kapoma is encouraging the government to come up with deliberate policies to support the local SMEs in the construction sector.
He adds that there is potential in the sector as long as the government comes to the aid of local entrepreneurs.
