Zambia Youths in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) has noted that government’s involvement in ensuring that the 20 percent sub contraction policy is adhered to will facilitate the growth of the local contractors.
ZYAFAC executive director Maurice Malambo says the move will facilitate transfer of the much-needed technology and financial discipline to the local contractors and lead to economic growth.
Mr. Malambo says it will additionally reduce capital flights and is a good tool for incorporating the construction sector into the economic diversification agenda.
He has urged government to ensure that the sub contraction policy is adhered to and implemented throughout the country.
Meanwhile Mr. Malambo has advised local contractors not to sale project contracts when they are sub contracted to foreign firms.
The ZYAFAC executive director says the initiative is aimed at empowering them with skills and technology transfer even as the diversification agenda is being realized.
