A provider of pay-as-you-go solar home systems to off-grid consumers across Africa has announced a 26 million dollars equity investment to Zambia.
Azuri Technologies Chief Executive Officer Simon Bransfield-Garth says the Investment is targeting to help off grid customers across the country to have access to modern energy-efficient appliances as well as clean and reliable energy.
Mr. Bransfield-Garth says African consumers need access to affordable modern digital services and devices that have a positive impact on their livelihoods.
And Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa says renewable energy is a catalyst for rural development as it supports Zambia’s commitment to mitigating climate change.
Mr. Nkhuwa says such renewable energy initiatives will improve access to information, improve productivity and offer new employment opportunities for the rural communities.

According to a statement, a recent study shows that televisions are the second most desired off-grid appliance by consumers, with only solar lighting being ranked more highly.
