Local NGO calls for more jobs at MFEZs

A local NGO advocating for the consumption of locally produced products and job creation, has observed that the Multi Facility Economic Zones (MFEZs) can do more in creating the jobs for the local people.
BuyZed Campaign Founder Evans Ngoma says industrialization should be used as a vehicle in creating jobs for the local people.
Mr. Ngoma says many countries now are using industries in creating the much needed jobs more especially for the young people.
“In Lusaka and elsewhere, we have seen the creation of Multi Facility Economic Zones. Let’s use these zones in creating the jobs for our people. Can we ensure that we use these zones as a vehicle of job creation,” he said.
Mr. Ngoma said young people need decent jobs and not part time jobs.
He said the initiative by the government to create MFEZs is a good one but that the zones can do more in creating more jobs.
He noted that it is encouraging that investors have continued to invest in the zones thereby creating jobs for the local people.
