Lungu pledges to address challenges in New districts

Hunger is looming in Chief Chikuwe’s area following the poor rainfall pattern that the was experienced during the last farming season.

Chief Mishoro disclosed this when President Edgar Lungu paid a courtesy call on Chiefs in Kasenengwa district yesterday.

And the Chief has called on the government to consider working on the challenges that the new district is faced with.

The Chief says the problems which range from poor road network and lack of access to health facilities need urgent attention.

He adds that lack of access to crossing points on road is another problem as well as lack electricity in some palaces.

“Mostly, our roads are bad, we don’t have clinics, we don’t have bridges that go with roads, we don’t have network, when we talk of road network, the towers, we don’t have towers in our chiefdoms” He has complained.

The traditional leader further adds that “the worst thing, we don’t know how many years after independence, some of our palaces have no power”.

And in response, President Edgar Lungu has pledged to address the challenges soon.

“We have come during a time when we are campaigning, so much that when we hear all these challenges that you are facing and we promise to do something, I know you’ll take that it’s just rhetoric”.

The head of state adds that “all I can say is we have heard these complaints, we’ll take note of them and after the elections are over, we’ll begin addressing them. Some of them we’re already addressing and we are in the pipeline, we’ll soon begin seeing results”.
