The Zambia Consumers Association (ZACA) has expressed concern that the water being provided in certain parts of Lusaka is contaminated.
ZACA Executive Secretary Juba Sakala tells Money FM News that the contamination of water sources in some parts of Lusaka is unfortunate and worse still it has happened in rainy season when diarrhea is very prominent.
Mr. Sakala says this shows that in these parastatal company in particular Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company, there are a lot of grey areas in their operations and lack of monitoring mechanisms.
“Zambia Consumer Association is quiet disappointed with the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company that this happened in more than two boreholes in a city and it has shown lack of seriousness, monitoring and surveillance on the part of the Utility Company,” he said.
“We urge Lusaka Water & Sewerage Company to check all water boreholes in Lusaka and inform the nation. This has also exposed that this utility firm needs more qualified man power not what they have now.”
